HR Advisor

Permanent, 37hrs per week,

Term Time Only plus Insets, plus 10 days 

£24,174 to £26,822 per annum (pro rata)

Applications are invited for the post of Human Resources Advisor based at Bradley Stoke Community School (BSCS). The purpose of this role is to build and develop relationships with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership team, managers and staff at all levels to deliver comprehensive first line generalist HR advice and an administrative service in accordance with HR legislation, policy, procedure and best practice. 

As a key member of the team at BSCS and as part of a dedicated wider HR team across the Olympus Academy Trust, the successful candidate will provide an efficient, effective and customer focused front line HR service which supports all aspects of an employee’s relationship and engagement with BSCS and the Olympus Academy Trust. He or she will work across the whole area of human resources, including recruitment and selection, employee relations and payroll, providing timely, accurate and efficient human resources support and administrative service. 

This is a crucial role which requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual willing to make an all-round contribution to this successful and thriving school.  This is a full time, permanent role, working 41 weeks of the year on a Term Time only, plus Inset days, plus a further 10 days (to be worked during school holidays) basis. The actual pro rata starting salary is £21,743 per annum.

The candidate must have proven HR transactional skills and up to date comprehensive knowledge of HR practices. Other essential requirements include: 

  • Comprehensive experience and successful track record of delivering in a fast paced HR environment;
  • Good understanding of HR practices; 
  • Demonstrable experience in providing generalist HR advice; 
  • A sound understanding of the principles of good HR practice and comprehensive knowledge of employment law;
  • Relevant qualification (CIPD Foundation Certificate in Human Resource Practice or a degree) or the equivalent professional experience; 
  • IT literate; 
  • Excellent customer service skills; 
  • Self-starter with a ‘can-do’ outcome focused attitude and approach;
  • Resourceful and works to make things happen taking others along with them;
  • Works effectively independently and within a team and understands the impact of their actions on colleagues.  
  • First class attention to detail and a methodical approach; 
  • Flexibility and excellent communication skills; 
  • Time management and ability to work well under pressure; 
  • Proven ability to plan, organise, prioritise, work under pressure, multi-task and meet short deadlines; 
  • Tact, discretion, diplomacy and ability to keep confidentiality.
